What sort of things can I do whilst exploring Snowdonia National Park?
* Why not climb the highest mountain in Wales at 3,560 feet? It is just over an hour away from the campsite & a great day out! Out of the three highest peaks in the UK, Mount Snowdon is probably the friendliest for the Novice Walker to ascend. Apart from anything else, in the summer months there is a cafe at the top where you can get a well deserved cuppa! For expert tips and advise, check out www.mountain-walks.co.uk/climbing-snowdon.
* We love a good castle, but Conwy castle is one of our favourites. Conwy Castle is only an hour away and was built on the orders of King Edward I of England. Thanks to restored spiral staircases in its great towers you can walk a complete circuit around the battlements of Conwy Castle. We highly recommend it! For opening times and prices, visit www.conwy-castle.co.uk
* At just a 10 minute drive from the campsite, you’d be silly not to visit Bala Lake. A small town in the ‘lake district’ of southern Snowdonia that’s a big outdoor centre, famous internationally for events like white-water canoeing, swimming, cycling and triathlons. Its outdoors scene has a broad appeal, with a good choice of gentle as well as adventurous activities. For more information visit www.visitsnowdonia.info/bala.
* Zip World offers a year round, all-weather experience for ages 3 and up and is only a half hour drive from the campsite. There are two high ropes courses; Treehoppers for younger children (5-12 years) and Zip Safari (9 years and up). You can bounce and explore to your hearts content on Tree Top Nets; giant bouncy nets suspended in the trees, or experience the thrill of Skyride, Europe’s highest five-seater swing. After all that adventure, why not relax, re fuel and watch the action from one of the two on-site cafes. Open all year round! Check out prices & availibility here https://www.zipworld.co.uk
* In the south-western part of Snowdonia National Park takes in a wooded gorge along a stream, called the Dolgoch falls. It is only an hour away from the campsite. Now we love a waterfall, and this is a pretty awesome one! Though the area is just four miles inland from the beaches of Tywyn on the coast it feels much more remote and rugged. A series of three waterfalls tumble down the steep sides of the gorge into pools below, and a popular circular walk links all three waterfalls. The walk itself is only short – about 1-mile round trip – and well signposted.
